A BRIEF HISTORY

Arrowhead at Vail and Country Club of the Rockies were originally conceived in 1980 by local developer Jen Wright. The site was chosen because of its relatively flat terrain for ease of development of a golf course, attributes of the Eagle River and McCoy Creek, potential for ski terrain, and the proximity to Vail and Beaver Creek Resorts. Initial plans included a private residential community with a highly regarded golf course for individuals that came to the Vail Valley to ski but desired to return for the summer due to the incredible climate. Original planning also included a private ski mountain for Arrowhead homeowners. Wright teamed with the Wedge Group from Houston to finance the project, Jack Nicklaus to design the golf course and Wadsworth Construction Company to build the golf course. The Arrowhead property was purchased in 1981, and construction commenced in 1982.

"Against the backdrop of a majestic mountain range, Jack Nicklaus routed a clever, strategic layout at the core of a warm, engaging club that helped transform the Vail Valley into a year-round destination."
